Angry Youth locks up office of the NDC at Asawase after Massawudu's Disqualification from Primaries

A section of angry Youth in the Asawasi Constituency in the Ashanti Region calling itself as Fire-for-Fire have locked up the Officer of the National Democratic Congress due to the party’s recent verdict against Massawudu Mubarick.

The NDC has disqualified Massawudu Mubarick from contesting in the upcoming parliamentary primaries. According to statement issued by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, 3, August, 2019 per the Doe Adjaho Committee’s recommendation, Mr. Massawudu has been “disqualified to contest the Asawase Constituency for the 2020 elections.”

The ban by the FEC was tasked to deal with all disputes and petitions about internal polls. The furious supporters of the NDC who are backers of Massawudu Mubarick on Thursday, September 5, 2019 locked up the office of the Party, set up bonfires, and forced party members to leave.

The ban means Hon. Muntaka Mubarak will go unopposed in the upcoming Asawasi Parliamentary primaries.

“By this decision, Hon. Mubarak goes unopposed, and for that matter, stands elected as the parliamentary candidate for the Asawase Constituency,” the statement read.
