'I am Disappointed at the NDC' - Massawudu Mubarick express discontent over Party's decision to let Hon. Muntaka go unopposed.

Disqualified Parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress in the Asawasi Constituency, Massawudu Mubarick has expressed disappointed at the Functional Executive Committee’s (FEC) verdict to let Hon. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Minority Chiep in Ghana's Parliament to go unopposed on the Asawase seat.

According to statement issued by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, 3, August, 2019 per the Doe Adjaho Committee’s recommendation, Mr. Massawudu has been “disqualified to contest the Asawase Constituency for the 2020 elections.”

“By this decision, Hon. Mubarak goes unopposed, and for that matter, stands elected as the parliamentary candidate for the Asawase Constituency,” the statement read.

The decision ill-inspired some furious supporters of the Massawudu Mubarick on Thursday, September 5, 2019 to evacuate party workers from the headquarters. They locked up the place and set up bonfires as a symbol of anger and fury at party officials.

According to Massawudu Mubarick, although he is not happy at party’s decision to ban him from contesting in the parliamentary primaries yet what the supporters did was out of his influence.

“I am disappointed at the verdict of the party towards me. It was a decision already made to let Hon. Muntaka to contest unopposed by the party executives. It happened in the 2012 and 2016 elections where aspirants were frustrated by the party for the favor of Hon. Muntaka,” he told Kwame Tanko via phone interview on Kumasi based Angel FM.

“I knew very well that this was going to happen and I’m not surprise,” he added.

He disassociated himself in any connection that went on at the Regional Headquarters of the party yesterday. Mr. Mubarick condemned the speech of the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Nurudeen Abass on Radio stations associating him as the fuel behind the mayhem at the Party Office yesterday.

“I was not aware of the breakage in the party headquarters yesterday. The supporters after the verdict came to my house in tears. I had to console them not to give up. It’s regrettable for Abass to draw conclusion on what he does not know,” he said.

“He is planting fury into people for such a line of communication. I have not instructed any person to initiate violence as a way to redress,”

He advised his followers to calm down and quit the violence.
