'I have Not made A Decision yet' - Massawudu Mubarick on whether He will contest as an Independent Candidate

Massawudu Mubarick has given a hint concerning his role towards politics ahead of the 2020 upcoming elections.

The parliamentary aspirant for the Asawase Electoral Area of the National Democratic Congress was disqualified to contest in the parliamentary primaries. He was initially prevented from filing his nomination at NDC Regional Office two months ago. The action by the regional executives caused the supporters of Massawudu Mubarick to besiege the party’s headquarters, which was not yet opened. It took the involvement of heavily armed security personnel to prevent the group from causing any mayhem.

In a statement issued by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, 3, August 2019 per the Doe Adjaho Committee’s recommendation, Mr. Massawudu was been “disqualified to contest the Asawase Constituency for the 2020 elections.,” meaning Hon. Muntaka Mubarak will go unopposed in the upcoming Asawasi Parliamentary primaries.

Speaking on Kumasi based Angel FM on Friday morning, Massawudu Mubarick publicized that anything could happen in the coming days on what he has planned to do. His ban from contesting in the primaries ahead of the 2020 elections has aired rumors that is willing to contest as an Independent Candidate.

“I have not yet made a decision on the way forward. We have a year ahead of us and I will consult my supporters. I can pick the other part in serving the people of Asawase Electoral Area or the NDC might have a change of mind concerning their decision,” he said.

When asked as to whether he is a mole for the opposition Party to distract the NDC of votes, he refuted the alleged rumor and defined the news as ‘a way to tarnish his image from contesting’.
