The Kogi state primary election for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been thrown into confusion by gunmen

The gunmen invaded the Lokoja Confluence Stadium in the early hours of Wednesday, September 4

The Chairman of electoral committee, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state escaped the bullets from gunmen and flee from the venue unhurt. 

The governorship primary election ended abruptly in the early hours of Wednesday, September 4, when gunmen invaded the venue of the election, Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

It was reported that voting had ended and sorting of votes were going on when the gunmen came to the venue at about 1:45 am and started shooting from different directions.

Reports show that votes in eight out of the 10 ballot boxes have already been counted and sorted out before the disruption by the gunmen.

Aspirants, delegates and others scampered for safety while the number of casualty has yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

Prior to this, Victor Adoji, PDP governorship aspirant had exposed reports that he stepped down for a former Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada.

Adoji said he was still in the game for the party's primary election ahead of the November 16, gubernatorial election in the state.
