Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery College issues Statement to Disassociate itself from Students 'Misconduct' at NDC 'Thank You' Tour

A group of Nurses in the Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery College in the Northeast Region are stated to be in trouble for backing up former President John Dramani Mahama at rally grounds.

The National Democratic Congress flagbearer, Mr. Mahama was on a “Thank You” tour in the Region to interact with stakeholders of the NDC ahead of the upcoming elections. The students in uniform stormed the grounds holding placards with the inscription, “JM, we are sorry, nurses need you back” and were captured in a video. Although rumors have emerged that the nurses were paid to attend the tour holding the placards yet the school has released a report to separate itself from the act of the students.

In a statement released by the management of the school, a denial of the school’s involvement has been made known and the students transport according to the management was without their knowledge and approval therefore the students are said to have breached the school’s code of conduct and are in trouble of facing any necessary disciplinary actions.

"Students have benefited fully from the trainee allowance following its restoration by the government and that some of the individuals in the nurse trainee uniform are not known to be students of the institution”.

"The views and comments expressed by these individuals in nurse trainee uniform do not in any way represent the views and policy orientation of the institution and that of the generality of its students.

"The college completely dissociates itself from the views and policy orientation expressed in the audiovisual material.

"We also condemn, in no uncertain terms, any machinations or manipulations targeted at students of the institution with the aim of making political capital."

A full-scale investigation according to the statement has been launched to investigate the matter.
